I'm hopefully getting closer to my first "American" bike purchase, and had a simple question for you folks. My buddy has kindly allowed me to put a few miles on his WG, and I really got into it! I love the look, and compared to my previous Jap bikes it felt great!
I would be mainly riding in town, with occasional two up trips of a few hundred miles for long weekends. Would a WG be the appropriate bike for my needs, or should I be looking at more standard bikes like the Super Glides? Also, is there a real need for the 6th gear as found on the new bikes, or would I be as happy with an older model?
Your opinions are appreciated!!
first to pick the bike that fits you best and your wallet.go to the stealers and ride a few demos.i love the 6th gear from the conventional 5 gears, but thats my opinon.just go and try out a few diffrent bikes.every bike fits everyone diffrent.comfort,handling,etc.
For me the 6th gear is perfect at 65 and above. It is nice to have that extra gear. I never use it except on th hiway. i think it's worth it myself. let us know what you deceid to do.
I love the 6th gear...but thats not all you get with the newer models. You get a fatter rear tire, wider forks, new frame design, and standard EFI. I would buy a new one, because they won't be changing the dynas for awhile now that they have overhauled them. It'll feel like new for a long time that way .
