I have one...

1) power gain is good.

2) Sounds rocks at open throttle.

3) Quality of chrome SUCKS. my pipe is 7-8mos old and already mass quantities of rust on it.

You want 2-1...get a fat cat. much better quality AND you get heatshields with it at no extra cost.

I've had a couple thunderheaders...they've been great! Great power, unbeatable sound & good chrome, not the best chrome but not bad! However the black finish is truly horrible...every one I've seen. I've got alot of buds with chrome thunderheaders & they all still look great. I know Vic has had issues with his rusting, sucks to hear that but I'm speaking from my personal experience. I've tried alot of pipes & I'm sticking with a thunderheader!

Not happy with the big shots? They sound so damn good. I just heard a fat bob the other day with them and damn they sound throaty!

But if your stuck on a THeader, then just save yourself the time and money and just go ahead and buy it. I always wanted a THeader but tried other pipes first and wasted a significant amount of money.

Good luck! They sound awesome.

If I switched to a black thunder header I would get it jet hot coated, my buddy did it to his big radius 2 into 1 before they made black and it looks good and keeps the pipe cool but only two colors to choose from gloss black or gloss silver.

The black thunderheader finish does suck I put mine on around the end of riding season only about 500 miles on the pipe and it started to pit/rust but performance and sound are the best

I hear allot of complaints about the black finish on thunderheaders but honestly I never had a problem with mine.I re sprayed it when I wrapped the pipe just because it seemed like the thing to do.I've had several bikes with black painted exhaust systems and I always ended up repainting them every couple years or so.It also makes a big difference if you keep them indoors and wash them from time to time.Re spraying a black exhaust is a hell of allot cheaper and quicker than getting something re chromed.

the t-header is a kick *** pipe for sound and performance. I have a fatcat which is well made and performs awesome as well. I painted mine black. Both look cool. To me the t-header is a cooler pipe, however I was afraid of all the negative quality issues so I got the fatcat. I kinda wish i had the t-header sound.
