Default Forward controls done!!!

Well, I did it. The forwards are installed. Installed enough to crow a little and post some pictures.

After getting the brake rod in, I tightened everything up enough to take a test ride around the neighborhood before I really tighten things up w/loctite. It seems to be shifting and braking properly.

Oh yes, and I have to put the cover on the original shifter shaft after I clean that area up a bit.

Huge thanks to all who offered either instruction or advice. Without you guys I'd have had to pay big bucks for the labor...never fun.

I still have a question that really hasn't been answered yet. What do I do with the lever that the front of the original linkage connected to? You can see it leaning left in the second photo.

OK, I guess I have one more question. Do I tighten the brake rod jamnut all the way until it can't go any further. How do I know if this is adjusted correctly? Third photo.

Couldn't have done it without this forum...thanks again!

you can tie it out of the way or remove your outer primary and saw it off to remove it... some guys have succesfully cut them out without removing the outer primary cover as well..

I pushed the old rod inwards so it's flush with the outer primary. Then I forced the lever behind the nut on the engine. It's stayed there for several hundred miles and it's almost un-noticable.

You can slide a hacksaw blade in the back of the primary and saw it off if you want to. I recommend you leave it in, in case you decide to one day go back to mids. You never know...
