assuming they're internally wired .. yes. you'll need to unplug everything underneath the tank and pull them up through the bars.

and to answer your second ?? yeah a first timer can do it fairly easy .. i just did mine

correct. once you take apart your controls you'll see they've glued the damn wires in there .. you need to go underneath your tank look up in the neck of the bike for a plastic piece which will pop out .. all the wires are stuffed up in there. you may want to loosen the bolts on your tank if it's not already lifted. pull all the crap out and find your wires then just unplug ..

THEN THE FUN PART

you're going to need to take the pins out of the molex connectors ..

it all sounds way more complicated then it is man .. HD mechanics are overpaid

Search Muds sticky thread at the top of the Dyna section. He has a good write up on how to get the connectors apart.

Are the bars you have on there right now stock? What kind of bars? What kind of bike? What year??If they're stock bars, they're not internally wired and you don't have to disconnect anything. Loosen the switch/throttle housings and slide them off the bars. Swap bars, put the stuff back on.
