I enjoyed this post...I have a leak that just showed up on my rear rocker box it appears and came here for some advise..never had the boxes off on a twin cam and was enjoying the post and had the same response as you...gotta say great job...and how impressed I am with the members here and the patience and advise...having said this...is it worth checking the torque on the top bolts..any possibility it would stop my leak...

Don't know how many hours a dealer would charge, but a person who has done it at least once and has the proper tools should be able to do the job in less than 3 hours (including draining if necessary and removing the fuel tank). I say that based on a Softail or Dyna. I've never owned a touring bike.

Asked my indy how much to remove/replace rocker boxes so I could powder coat them ... 4 hours / $320 ... and the tank, etc. is already off for other work. Adding in the p/c and shipping, the job will cost about $400.
That's a little too much for me to spend right now. So, I've been thinking about pulling them myself and using some gloss black Duplicolor engine block paint. Total cost will be about $30 including gaskets. After reading this thread, I just might go through with it.
