Please give me an idea of what I should pay for the 10K service on my 2005 FXD. I am in SoCal and have many choices from HD Stealers and many different indepedants.
You can have a dealer do it for around $300. You can save about $200 or more by doing it yourself. I just did mine and I downloaded the 10,000 mile checklist and did all myself. I had to invest a little in proper tools such as torque wrench and bits but my buddy had a lift and helped me out. Nothing better then working on your own bike and knowing it is done correct, too many dealers that do things half a$$.
I made some phone calls today and called the 4 HD dealers that are within 30 miles of me. Got 4 different prices. The lowest at about $310 and the highest at about $500. Turns out that the cheapest one is the closest to the house. That does not include my military discount (10% on parts, not labor). I also called two local shops and they were bother higher than all of the dealer quotes. If I don't deside to do it myself at least I know where to go.
I am right behind you top, I'll be hitting the 10000 mark soon and am in the SoCal area. Just curious was the lowest quote LA Harley..
Silver,
I am a little farther south (Oceanside). Lowest quote was Biggs in O'side. The 4 dealers I called were Biggs O'side, Biggs San Marcos, Capistrano and Quaid (Temecula).
