I put the diamond plated ones on mine. The throttle side is the only difficult part to do. The throttle cable runs through the grip and has a small ferel that clips and holds it in place. If you can't loosen the throttle cable it is a very tight fit and difficult to get the small ferel back in place. I know this because when doing mine it snapped out of place, took flight, and was eaten by the garage monster. Went to the dealer to get the part; didn't have it; took three days to get it in!!! Who would have ever thought that a 1.50 piece the size of a pea could ground you for three days. Not to tough to do just be careful when trying to replace that part.

Check out the DIY forum, there are easy to install instructions in there. Read them all before starting.

You can split the left side with a razor and take it off in seconds.

Make sure you follow the part about wedging something in the brake lever or you will be pissed.

Throw a towel on the ground under the right grip, it might just make your day.

All in all, 15 minute job.

Takes more time to worry about it than it does to do it. If you are using HD brand grips, no glue needed.

Good luck, and don't worry. Its not hard at all. I rate it 0 swears and 1 beer.

Best advice I can give is what Coffeslinger said, only I bought a couple of the ferrules before I changed the throttle over to ISO Grips by Kuryakyn. I lost one of the brass parts also and it was great to have a spare. Left grip takes no time at all.
