I own a 2005 Dyna Super Glide Cutom F/I with 4000 miles on it. I broke in according to owner manual and have had recommended service @ 1000 miles with syn. oil. Don't know why, but at 2600 miles, I checked oil and it was over a qt. low. Filled up and started to watch it closer. At 3000 miles it was already over 1/2 qt low so I took to local dealership. They dismissed the problem as "normal" usage, but offered to do 3- 500 mile check ups to see how much was being used. In the first 1000 miles, it has burned 36 oz. oil. Has anyone had any problems similar to this. I found a web site that says Harley has acknowledged a valve problem, but aren't doing a recall. They have actually changed the part they are installing in bikes.
I think ANY oil usage at 2500-4000 miles is excessive.
My dealer is not really helping out too much. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

I have 27 K on my bike and don't use or loose a drop of oil between changes. I think I would start yelling loudly. I run Mobile 1 V-Twin syn, so syn is not the problem.

 

pull your plugs ande see if they have any oil on them. but more than likely your problem is your valve seals. I had 2 friends that bought 05 dynas and both had the same problem. Dealer kept giving them the run around and finally fixed the problem.
