My "nut" to attach my solo seat to (insided the fender) broke. I cannot get in there to replace it because the bike sits too low on the tire. Right now I just have a hole in the fender. Any similar experiences? Any ideas to fix? Thanks!!!
If you get a new one, slip a long tie wrap through the nut part and stick the tie wrap up through the hole in the fender. You should be able to do this without having to get your hand up under the fender. The head on the tie wrap will keep the nut from slipping off the end. Then grab the tie wrap up on top of the fender and pull the nut up into place. Then you can hold it there to put the c-clip on. You could also use a piece of safety wire or something else.
The only other way would be to get a lift/jack, raise the rear, pull the shocks & drop the swing arm. If you do... be sure to check the tightness of your rear motor mount.
I dropped a length of heavy string through the top of the hole so it dropped down by the wheel then put the nut on the string, tied a big not in the string and pulled the nut up and slipped the plastic washer/clip on... then pushed the string down through the hole .. WAAA lAAA done.
I used duct tape on the end of a paint stir stick, but next time (if there is a next time) I'll go the zip tie way.....sounds really easy and less stuff to get together!
