Default Going Ape?

I wondered if you guys can tell me how Apes affect handling? My neice has a set of mini's on her LowRider and she wants to go with taller ones. She said I can have hers if I want them. I know I have to change out some cables and what not, but I'm mainly interested in hearing what guys think about how it affected the way your bike handles.

I have a (basically) stock SuperGlide with a 2 inch offset riser.

Thanks!

I just put 16 inchers on my WG, it does change the handling a bit, I mean you will jump on and feel the differenc but, it is for the better. Seems to turn alittle tighter and my balance seems better........straight line cruising is pretty much the same just more comfy with the arms straight out even with my shoulders. DO IT!!! Get em to be even with your shoulders, higher would probably get your arms going numb or tingle...

Just like any bars you can get used to them pretty quick as far as handling then it comes back to whats comfortable for you. I would suggest taking a cruise on her bike with those bars and see how they feel cause they won't change much. Mojo

I always wanted apes, but in 40 yrs never did, and low bars always felt wrong.
Having never touched a Harley, I bought a '06 WG in Feb, and notice NO difference in handling. It just feels GOOD to have the arms higher, more natural, like hands on top of the wheel and legs out front also like the cage.
Added bonus: the mirrors work without me dropping my shoulder.
In fact I'd like them higher.
90 miles every day, no problem. That's just me.

I have an o6 bob and have never been more comfortable on a bike!!!!! Nothing gets sore, back, *** nothing! I highly recommend the switch but then again it is all preferance? I think the apes make a bike. Look way cooler!

I have 16" chubbies on my bike and I like the looks and also handling. The grips are just above my shoulder and they feel more comfortable than the mini's that I had on there before. I like the old school look of the taller apes. Good luck
