I just bought a 2010 FXDC and I would really like to move the handle bars up and back just a little, but would like to avoid having to buy new cables or wiring.
Can I install the HD 4" Curved Risers 56066-82A without having to change the buy new cables or wiring.
You can get about 2.5" additional height if you use the stock bars, I have an FXDCI that's what I got out of it. There is a loop in your wire harnass under the seat, it should be tied to the frame with a zip tie, cut the tie. You have to slide you tank back a little to get to the frame access panel to pull the harnass forward. Be careful with the connectors! I hope this helps. Welcome to the forum and good luck with the scoot.
I put some Drag Specialties risers on my '07 FXDC that are essentially the same as the Harley ones you mentioned and everything worked OK. I had to bend the brake line where it comes out of the master cylinder, but that was the old style rubber and steel hard line. I believe they started using a braided line in '08, so that should be in your favor.
I've since replaced the stock bar with a flat track bar that has a couple inches more pullback. The Deuce bar is nice, too. I had it on my '03 Wide Glide.
I have 4" curved risers on my 2009 FXDC and there were no problems at all.
They really did make a big difference in wrist comfort by changing the angle.
Installed 4 inch straight risers on my 09 yesterday. No problems other than a minor clutch cable adjustment. Decided on the straight risers to keep the clamp at the same angle as the instrument cluster. An aesthetic detail only.
I put 4" pullbacks on my '08 with no problems. Later, I switched bars to Sportster bars, which gave me a more comfortable angle for my wrists. Sportster bars are a little narrower than the FXDC bars.
Guys I sure would like to see some nice photos of the 4 inch pull back Risers installed. I'm right on the edge of ordering up a set. Just would like to see how they look with stock FXDC bars. Sounds like a piece a cake mod that should really increase rider arm reach comfort.
