Default Stage I question

Ok so does this make sense???
'09 Fat Bob
Arlen Ness Big Sucker Or Big Sucker II...?
PC-V
either V&H Pro Pipe or just Rush slipon's and either paint the old heat shields or buy Black one's.
Really I am mostly looking to black out my bike and clean up the lines, so I like a clean look.

Would the V&H Pro Pipe be much better than the Rush Slip on's? And would the Big Sucker II be that much better than the I?? More power is nice, but I prefer torque to raw HP....

Default Where you sit.

My dad was a Chevy man. My uncle had Chryslers. For years they argued the merits of their car companies at family functions. Then one year at a family gathering my uncle started talking about how great the Ford motor company was. I took my dad aside and asked him how could my uncle talk about how great Chryslers were for all those years and now be talking about how great Fords are.

My father said, "That's easy son. Your uncle bought a Ford last week".

Torque.... D&D fatcat is the torque king along with the supertrapp supermeg. Big difference over slipons. Don't waste money on slipons. V&H is ok,won't give you the torque on a stock motor that the D&D and supertrapp can. Next thing to do, don't buy a ness big sucker instead buy a Doherty power pacc.

It all depends on your budget. Slip ons are cheaper than full systems. If you are looking for more power, I'd say go for Cycle Shack slip ons & Doherty Power Pacc a/c. These are proven power makers & won't cost you a lot.

Now my advise is dont make my mistakes. Forget about stage 1 & go straight away for a 103" or even 107" kit. The difference in power is huge just for a little more $$.

Example 1:

If you decide to go for V&H black Pro Pipe you'll pay around $590/-
Arlen Ness Big Sucker stage $170/-
Super Tuner or PC-V or any other tuner brand around $350/-
Total cost excluding labor = $1110/-

Example 2:

-SE stage 3 103 kit 27513-08A (Torque 108, HP 97 according to SE Dyno sheet) the kit includes: 103 cylinders & forged pistons, 259E cams, SE air cleaner kit, EFI Super Tuner, High performance valve springs, clutch springs, gaskets & pushrods. Price $1260/- from Zanotti.
-BUB 7 DUAL POSITION 2:1 pipes $395/- on ebay (great deal)
-You can sell your original cylinders & pistons for $250/-
Total cost excluding labor = $1405/-

Remember this is a stage 3 SE kit you can still take the cost down by going to stage 2 & using slip ons instead of full exhaust system.

Cast my vote on full exhaust system,2:1 systems give the most power, don't waste money on slip-ons,you won't be happy down the road and you will likely end up changeing them. Rebel78 makes a great point, and I would do that, except here in canada the same kit costs at least 3500$ installed.

Good advice here. Just add one thing, if you are spending that much $$ on performance, don't skimp on the tuning. Just saying to look at the TTS tuning kit, maybe $100 more than a PCV and you can really dial things in with more sophistication. If you like to tinker for best performance and have the time for it, you can save the dyno tune $$ and put the $$ into components. TTS seems to be the hot ticket over in the tuning forums for stock to highly modified bikes.
