Hey folks, I have a '09 FXDC and since I got it it seems to lean a bit to the right when I'm riding it. I'm not sure if it's just me or if there is actually a lean. Can the bike be out of balance or there be something up with the alignment?
Have you noticed now much straighter it seems after the beer bottle in your right hand is empty? Just kiddin. But in all seriousness my brand new 05 Custom had that problem. Took it in twice, first time they replaced the tire. Didnt do squat. Then they checked the forks, and sure enough, the forks were out of align.
The rear tire alignment can also cause the bike to lean funny when riding. Check the adjustments on the rear axle to make sure the wheel is running straight. If it is off by much you will be able to see the belt riding on the rear pulley cockeyed.
I do not know how the process is called in English,
but first of all have your tyre dealer take off both wheels from the bike, put them on this ... spinning machine and hang small weights on them.
How is it called?
I haven't had time to get out to the bike this week. I'll have to look into some of these things next week. The forks, the front tire wear and the rear wheel all sound like things I need to look into. The shocks are right as I've already checked them. No, the bike wasn't dropped. Well not while I've had it but I bought it new so I'm thinkin' not. I've also checked the tire pressure so thats not it. As far as the balancing I guess I could have that checked also but wouldn't that make the bike ride rough if the wheels were out of balance? Would it really make it lean? When wheels are out of balance on a car they just ride bad like you need a shock or something doesn't it?
