I've been hangin' around for awhile, asking questions mainly , and thought I should introduce myself.
I got my WG back in January but needed to make some changes-and, oh yeah, get my license- before I rode much. The weather’s been good off and on in No Cal-a lot of rain and then occasionally clear and pretty warm. But the forward controls were just too far forward and I didn’t like the handlebars so I set about changing that stuff. I made adapter plates to move the controls back 2”. I’m still not so sure about forwards for me but they work a lot better now.
The main thing that amazed me after being away from motorcycles for so long-I had dirt bikes and a couple Harleys including a '73 FLH Shovel years ago that I'd modified to look quite a bit like the 2010 Wide Glide-was how expensive it was to start from scratch. The bike was only the beginning. Things that I bothered little with back then-helmets, jackets, saddlebags -cost a lot. And buying bike parts-especially OEM-wasn’t for the faint of heart-or faint of pocketbook! I did manage to find parts on ebay and here on this forum’s classified section much cheaper than new. And the forum has been invaluable for learning a few tricks, BTW. Thanks to those who’ve helped out.
Welcome to the dyna family! +1 on the license, probably the best & cheapest part you can get for a bike lol!
This is not so true in Texas anymore. My wife just got her Motorcycle D.L. back in October. Well as of September 1st, you are required to take the Motorcyle training course, which is 3 days and is 200$. Well thankfully i have had my D.L. a few years, but another part of the law is what gets me. If you move from another state and have your Motorcycle D.L. but have not been to any Motorcycle courses, they will not honor the motorcycle endorsement. No matter how long you have had them. Now thats crazy, so to get back to the cheapest thing he can do for the bike, not quite, but as for the smartest, oh yeah.
