i herd from a buddy that rides a lot and had the black denim that the paint get shiney after a lot of wear especially arounf the back of the tank by ur legs.
While I don't have it from my legs (I'm not that bug of a guy that my legs rub my tank), I DO have shiny spots on the base of my tank from the seat which I see when I take the seat off to wash the bike. So yes, your friend is correct.
