If you decide to purchase a Street Bob, do not, I repeat, DO NOT get the bike in the Black Denim paint job. I thought it was merely a flat black sorta paint scheme, but I was just informed by my dealer that apparently the Black Denim is supposed to show wear just like a pair of denim jeans. So, for example, the paint on the tank where your legs rub will get worn down, rear fender if you have bags that rub will get worn down, etc...to give it the look of worn out knees on a pair of paints. Apparently, even bird droppings or such will stain it.
Harley may think this is cool, but if I'm paying $15,000 for a motorcycle, I want a paint job that'll hold up and look nice for more than a week. [:@]
Definitely not getting the denim paint job - I read a great review of the bike that stated the denim paint job required some sort of "special care" - definitely not something I am interested in. I had no idea it is supposed to show wear over time - that's kind of odd if you ask me. It does look cool when brand new though.
I'll probably end up going with the Vivid Black...
Yeah...I'd like to have been the fly on the wall during the Marketing meeting where they made the decision to go ahead with THAT idea...I just don't get it.
Still an awesome looking ride...but the normal paint is the way to go.
I'm with you guys on the black denim paint. At first I thought it was a flat black scheme and thought it was good of them to offer that kind of option. What I am not interested in is some paint that is going to fade and get worn like a pair of jeans. A good paint is supposed to hold up for lengths of time, not fade and have a worn look. What were they thinkin
Seems that they are out to capture the "Youth Market" with the whole Dyna line. The Denim bike is aimed at that segment of the population that buys their jeans pre washed with the knees already split to give that lived in look straight off the showroom floor. My granddaughter, all 16 years of her, thinks it's "cool."[sm=shades.gif]
