Hello, my name is Trina. I live in an old milk crate under this guys bed. I've figured out how to unlock my box when he is away using some rat bones that I've saved through the months I've been in captivity. Around our house, my wife contributes as much as I do to the household budget. We have no seperate checking or savings accounts and we have the same retirement goals. There is no mine or hers...it's ours.

Not surprisingly, she wants to be involved in major spending decisions. No, she doesn't care if I blow a couple hundred bucks nor I if she does. But $13k for a new Street Bob is a mutual decision.

Did it ever dawn on you guys that through the ages the man has been the superior animal. He earned the living and protected the family. Now you all have to eat **** and be "equal" to your spouse and value her opinion and get her permission. You are all ****ing up the natural order of things. My wife of 13 years WANTS me to make all the decisions. I earn the living and pay the bills. She likes it like that. I feel good about it too. Guess I'm just old fashioned.

You see dude...that's all fine and good...we'd all still like it to be that way...but I'm not sure where you live man, or what your situation is (and I won't make any judgement either)...where I live, if you want to live in a neighborhood where your children will be safe and you don't have to worry about your house getting broken into, or your car being vandalized, you have to pay upwards of 10 grand a year just in property taxes. I've already stated that I wish I could pay the bills and have my wife stay at home with my child all the time (and therefore, have even more say on what I buy...actually...that's innacurate...more say in what she buys..I buy what and hope she's into it)...

But if you read my earlier post, you would've seen that I have a situation that's very common in this day and age....I have to compete with immigrants and women for the jobs...and right now, in central jersey, after the dot com bust of 2000, to be an out of work software engineer, and know that on every interview you go on, the guy named Chung, or the woman with the dot on her head is gonna get the job before I ever had a chance....that's pretty disheartening. So the reality is, your wonderful "old fashioned" world, while being something that most men still want...is not something that is always possible.

I'll tell you what...before you join a message board and start criticizing people and insulting them by telling them that their "new age" or "in touch with their feminine side", you really should try to find out a little more about their personal situation. I'll agree with you that there are definitely guys out there who DON'T wear the pants in their family. Believe me..the best man in my wedding has a warden, not a wife. But theres a difference between that guy, and a guy who has a loving, respectful marriage...one in which both people contribute to the household income...not because they necessarily want it that way..but because it's necessary in a (sadly) changing America. And I'll tell you right now...the majority of the MEN you are judging on this message board are part of the later.
