Sounds like you guys are the boys who are in touch with their feelings. 50/50 and all that crap. Good for you. Partners for life. In touch with the old feminine side. I gotta say that you are lucky to have someone to pay the bills. My wife won't take that job on. She also does not have a say about what I ride. I put the $2K down on my wide glide and told her I needed a new bike. I built the motor cause I needed to. We have a beautiful home and I don't drink, smoke or take drugs. I ask her if she wants to go with me on runs and she does sometimes. Once a year I take off for a week or two by my self to clear my head and all she asks is that I call home and let her know I'm still alive. But I never ask her permission for anything. If I had to do that it would take the fun and trust out of our marriage. I guess I'm too old fashion to be a new age harley guy.
So let me get this straight...because I said I love and respect my wife I'm in touch with my feminine side?...that's not new age harley guy...that's every guy I've ever had respect for...my father..his father and his father before that...they all had long happy successful marriages...what's fuking feminine about a happy marriage.

I never said $hit about permission and paying bills.... I'm talking about a mutual respect. And when I watch my wife work a part time job, clean my house, and watch a 19 month old the rest of the day...I have a lot of respect for that...cause to be perfectly honest...I couldn't do it.

I have heard this comment more than once in these forums. "my wife already gave me the approval" or something to that effect. Please tell me this is a joke. You have to get permission to buy your bike of choice?
I don't know about your income situation, but most married couples are two-earner households for which $20,000 is a lot of money. It'd be pretty damned disrespectful to buy a luxury item like a Harley without first discussing it with the person who is going to be partly paying for it.

I'm with you guys. I see no reason to disrespect the mother of my child to prove to my buddies that I am a man!!!

You guys with women that keep your finances in check are lucky in some ways. My OL loves bikes and if I even mention a new bike or adding something to the bike, she is all for it. She is actually worse than I am when it comes to blowing money on the bike. For Christmas, she wanted a new sissybar. I mentioned building a custom this winter and she's been on the net checking out stuff to order. Now she is looking into us going to either Biketoberfest or the Smoke Out West this fall.

I think you showed me the basic difference between us. To me my bike ain't a luxury. When my wife and I bought new furniture I let her decide. I paid for it. But my bike is my business and I don't ask her anything about it. And she has read these forums and gets as big a laugh as I do.

Well, I've never been married and don't plan on it. I've been with the same women for 12 years and have 3 kids. You guys who are married, I hope all stays well. We all know and have friends who got fu@ked thru the court system in a divorce, and believe me, the men get the royal shaft without the axel grease. Your women can be the softest kitten but in a divorce she can be a tiger. I have had friends who have fallen on hard times and missed a couple of child support payments only to find themselves in jail.
According to the bible its not a 50/50, the man rules. But if you tell todays women that, most will say bullsh!t.
I think its a conspiracy, lol women are taking over. Is Hiliary running for president? Is Condeliza really going to solve what a bunch of men with weapons are doing in the mid-east? lol

It needs a custom front fender, not sure I like the solid shocks, a headwinds headlight would be nice and give the front end more length, pipes gotta go, not sure about that battery cover, wide glide trees are must. Are the calipers at least chrome? Wheels are ok...

If I had to get wife permission I'd probably shoot higher...

Dude...if you're gonna bring up the bible...how did you have kids and not be married...according to the church, sex before marriage...that's a pretty big sin

Truth is, I agree with you...men do get the shaft 100 percent of the time if the marriage ends in divorce....not 99, not 98 etc etc....And I've watched it happen to my friends over and over again.
So when I decided to get married, I knew I was taking that chance...but for the first time in my life, after numerous relationships that were all fk'd up in one way or another, I kinda figured that I have probably a 99 percent chance that I won't get fk'd over by this one. So far, I've been right.

And as far as 50/50 goes, I believe we missed out...my father's and my grandfather's generation had it much better...they were able to get good jobs without competing with women and immigrants. Unfortunately, in this day and age, things are different...if I'm up against Habib Mahmood, Chow Chung, Shaquilla Johnston, or Lucy Jones, I'm fifth in line for that job. So the reality is, my wife does have to work so we can pay the bills, and therefore has a say in how money is spent. Believe me..I would much prefer it if I could go out and get a job that paid well (which I'm certainly qualified to do) and have my wife stay home.
Fortunately for me, I came into my marriage with a lot of money, so when I make big purchases like motorcycles, I have some say as to what, where, and when I buy it. That doesn't change the fact that my wife's opinion does count. And honestly, I'm lucky to be in a marriage where I actually do value my wife's opinion...Cause I could have just as easily been with some chick that had absolutely zero interest in what I do. I'm sure there are some right here on this board who's wives could care less about your harleys.
