Default Seat height

Got an '07 superglide and the seat is just too high for me. Only 5'6" and seat is at 29" after replacing it. Do the low rear shocks make a big difference or not?

Carltex,
Is that a sundowner seat on there? If it is that may be an inch or two. You may try to go with a smaller solo or two up seat with less padding. ?Le Pera in september? Sidekick? Stripper?

Thanks for the info and the offer but no thanks, I got it for the wide passenger seat (12") for my wife. Gotta keep the little lady happy back there or any ride will be a long ride. Didn't realise that it was gonna be that thick. Guess it will pack down after a while. Looking to put lower shocks on the back to help. Thanks anyway.

I have an 05 SuperGlide that I just put on the Sundowner. The stock seat was perfect for me once I lowered the rear suspension. Once I put the Sundowner on, it's just a touch too tall for me and I'm 5'7". I too bought the seat for my wife, and she likes it much better than stock, so I'm going to look into having some of the padding removed up front.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like the shocks would be the way to go or at least it will help some. Will have to check into the seat shaving. I really hate to say this but I dropped it because of this issue. Only had it a week. Got a call at work that the sprinklers were going off on it and went to move it and the rest is history.

Going to an inch shorter shock (spring really) should lower the back of the bike over an inch. Before spending the big $$$$ on shorter shocks, you may want to try having your stockers cut down to 11.5" from the stock length. M&B Products in CO does this for $69.00 + shipping, pretty quick turn around also. I had the stock springs on my '04 FXD cut to 11.5" and they've been great. The ride does not suffer too much and you'll still have enough travel for big bumps or riding 2-up. Just my recommendation, it's been the best cash I've spent so far on bike modifications. A WHOLE lot better than spending $300.00-$400.00 only to find it wasn't what you really were looking for.

You might even be able to find a pair of used OEM shocks on E-bay. Here is a picture of my '04 wih the lowered rear end:

Their website is skullenterprises.com.

Good Luck.

Gary
