Have a 06 dyna 850 miles, the horn has been working irregularly. Some days works all day some day works half the time, has trouble in very hot weather.
It's strange...I changed the horn cover almost immediately after buying my bike, so I thought maybe that was it..but after reading these posts, maybe not. Mine pretty much works all the time...but if the bike isn't running, it goes from a normal sounding horn to a muffled sound..and is not loud at all. Sounds like a cow being beaten over the head
Anybody experience this? I was thinking that maybe that's normal on these bikes..when they're not running. But not sure. It doesn't really bother me because as long as it works while I'm riding, that's when I need it....it's not like I'm hanging out in my garage blowing my horn all night...well..maybe...when the little lady is pi$$ing me off.
I had the sick cow sound on my sporty. I ran the tone adjustment screw in and out then adjusted the screw till it sounded right. Also might want to try stbobber's idea...spray silicone in the horn.
My horn sounds like a sick cow, sometimes it works good , especially when I'm at the dealer, and then back to the sick cow call. notice more if Harley is not running
