I keep hearing mixed things about Intiminators. Some folks love them but I'm always wary of the "I have spent money and time so it will feel better" factor. Some people just don't like them at all because they seem to give a hard ride and a weird non-linear feel to the forks where most of the movement is in the bottom half of the fork travel.
Personally I found a really noticeable difference with just swapping to 15W fork oil and taking the pre-load up a notch at the rear. It doesn't feel like it needs more messing with, its not a sports bike and I don't particularly expect or want it to feel like one.
Brian(owns Ricor) mention something to me on the phone... they make the front feel like running 20wt on compression and 5wt on rebound. My guess is if the front does not feel good to a rider with 20wt oil, they wont like the ride. Many like you just add thicker oil and enjoy the ride, problem is the rebound now becomes too slow to allow the fork to react as quick as it should to keep the tire pinned to the road. Most may not notice. As I write this now, I think my suspension is the best it has felt since installing the wideglide front end a couple of years ago. It does ride a little firm for me still, and this could be more due to me running an extra 20mm of oil in the tubes currently. Of course this means I have to pull the front again and pour out an ounce or so and try the front at stock oil height. Another thing is results can vary measurably depending on the weight of the rider.
