What year (and model) bike you got ... the battery box changed substantially from '05 and earlier to '06 and later ....

I just have the standard box on my bike ('00 FXDL). What you are thinking of doing?

Well, I made a air filter cover out of aluminium & stainless steel & got a good reponse on here for that, just want to make my standard bike not so standard & I enjoy making things myself, i.e. one offs.

forum member Bikerlaw gave me one of his old battery covers off a Shovelhead I think ... pretty square shaped and has a corrugated facade ... thinking about how to adapt it as a battery cover for my '05 ... project is kind of back burner for now ....

Maybe we need to get someone to make something other than a square battery. But I am all for anything that is not square and/or flat. Looking forward to your design!

Is your a/c cover round? How about making a matching round piece and mount it to the front of the stock bat box? Paint the bat box flat black (assuming your bike is black) so it fades away and keep the round piece shiny so it looks like you have a round battery cover. Naturally it would have to be shallower than your a/c but it doesn't need to contain anything so that's no issue.

I added an eagle emblem and a Shovelhead solenoid/starter cover to mine. I have another ol Shovelhead battery box I wanted to use, just couldn't get it the way I liked it, so I only used the lower cover.

I picked this up from a dealer closing out stock on ebay. I was going to make one as well, but found this and decided I liked it much more than the stock square one, so now it's mine. Has a bit of contour to it and rounded edges.
