I picked this up from a dealer closing out stock on ebay. I was going to make one as well, but found this and decided I liked it much more than the stock square one, so now it's mine. Has a bit of contour to it and rounded edges.
Yours looks great. My problem was less the box itself and more the goofy looking empty cluster of space below the battery box that dyna's seem to have. Looking at your picture, do you see what I'm talking about?
Bigdaddy - I used to have the same chrome box you're sporting with the rounded-corner-rectangle in 'relief' on its surface ... I was kind of ambivalent about it, so I 'chucked it' (well, sold it on e-bay) ... had been thinking of getting the same one in wrinkle black, but thought "that's almost no different than the unadorned surface of the battery itself" ... so have been going without a box/cover for a while ... just the unconcealed battery clamped into the lower tray with the lid that fits under the edge of the seat rail ....
Seen several guys put bottle openers somewhere on the bikes ... almost seems like I've seen one on the battery cover, but not 100% sure ... might have been the frame downtube under the seat, just below the key (on the pre-'06) ....
The rectanular box I think is second to the newer rounded box on the '06 and later with the band .... There are a few guys who have really dressed them up ... saw one (forget who) that had the box painted or powdercoated the same color as the tins and the band was chrome plated--really popped! Also kind of like the black or flat black box with red (or HD orange) band, or with pinstriped highlights or something ... sometimes looks pretty good ...
I like the older boxes ... esp. with the lower cover like bikerlaw is sporting ....
I'm just not a fan of most of the other boxes ... just don't do anything for me ...

p.s. dig your toolkit box ... saw one on e-bay recently that Rene brought to my attention ... went for $271 ...! Talk about ridiculous ... in my book that's an example of 'having more money than common sense' ....

I can see that, but I guess I never thought about it, thanks for planting that seed....LOL
I painted my covers the same as the tins... looks good... of course it's just flat black... Not seen in my sig photo... actually had the strut covers and box off to paint em to match when I took sig photo.
