Default red key icon problem

Weird problem. When I use the right turn signal while driving the bike the red key icon comes on and the turn signal does not work. If I turn the motorcycle off and then turn the switch on without starting the engine the right signal will work fine until I start the engine and then the red key icon comes on and the turn signal stops. No problem with left turn signal. As long as I do not use the right turn signal while riding the key icon does not come on. Has the HD security system and I have installed the HD rear turn signal relocation kit so I could install some bags. I have to believe that it has something to do with the wires since I had to cut and splice to install the relocation kit but can't figure out what could have happened. Being old Air Force electronic tech. I did not use the crimp connectors but soldered and then sealed the wires using liquid tape and then wrapped them with electrical tape. Will be doing some continuity checks but does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

I had a issue with my key icon when I did my first set of bars on my bike . After pulling everything back out I found a pinched wire that was grounding out it was a pin head size pinch to. However b4 actually taking things back apart all my test came up fine to.
Just something to think of.

i would replace the bulbs the key light comes on when a bulb is out, if a bulb is going bad a the element could shake when the engine is running and short out and stop the signals from working, I have had this happen one time to me.

If the bulbs are ok, as you say... 'No problem with left turn signal' then it's certainly in the wires some where... recheck your work.

I have to believe it's something to do with the wires or a bad bulb. Maybe the element is losing contact when the engine is running. Will also check the wires in the steering head. I installed the HD 4 inch riser-pull backs at the same time so had to relocate the wires in that area. Thanks for the suggestions.

Switched the bulbs and solved the problem. Bulb seems to be fine but may not have been making good contact and taking it out and reinstalling may have made better contact. Thanks for the help.
