Default Primary leaking from mid shift cap

Heres a couple of pictures. What would be the cause of thise.. According to the shop manual there is no seal there... at least from what i can tell. figured there would be one behind the cap but I cant see one there either, It just started today.

pop off the cap, i filled min with permatex "the right stuff" then put the cap back on... put a 2x4 under the kick stand and give it an hour or so to dry

Thanks bro! I havent had the time to look it over, just glanced this evening, and opened up the book. Had to run to "meet the teacher" for this school year. My son is in the 5th... wow! time fly's!

Isn't that shifter hole supposed to be sealed by the tower gasket? See item 9 in the pic below of the primary

yep mine was leaking from there to, I replace the the primary gasket and the tower gasket (they come together) still leaked filled it with permatex and bota boom bota bing all better, I let mine dry for about a day

Here is a picture of the "tower gasket", that fits between the inner and outer primary covers where they meet to form the tunnel the mid-shift shaft. Since there is no longer a shaft present to keep the gasket centered, it moves out of position and you get primary fluid leaking out the end of the tunnel.
I replaced the tower gasket and the leak stopped. You have to take off the outer primary cover to get to it.

Had the same problem here replaced the tower gasket, which had rattled out of place, but had to take primary cover off to get at so replaced that gasket too.
