This has been bugging me all season. The front end lock on my Fat Bob doesn't seem to be working correctly. It seems the pin (from the lock) is not lining up with the cutout in the lower tree. Is there a way to adjust this so that I can lock up the front end?
Not sure if this is a problem, just a design issue. As paul s said, just wiggle it and it will engage. Just pull the bar toward you slightly. Auto steering wheel locks have this same issue. You have to turn the wheel slightly and turn the key to engage the lock.
It needs tweeked, you'll need to remover the cover and losen it up, align it and tighten it back up. It's easy. search and you'll find many on hear have done it.
And I honestly thought I was the only havin' this problem! I guess not. I don't recall a cover on anything to remove though, so I'll have to check it out when I get home.
I will say the the wiggling thing doesn't work at all on my bike. But I can straighten the wheel, lock it, and then the wheel won't turn all the way to the left.
It's almost like someone put a LOT of muscle into straightening the wheel out after it was locked and it bent the locking pin or something so that once it was unlocked, it was bent enough that it won't go into place now.

On mine it just wasn't properly aligned, the pin couldn't find the hole cause they weren't lined up, I took a flat screwdriver and pryed off that flat round cover plate. After that you loosen the nut, and use your key to move it around all the time trying to engage the pin in hole (that's what she said). once you got it set, tighten it back up and use some glue to stick the cover plate back on.
I had a similar problem with my 06' Street Bob. I think it is common amongst the newer Dyna models.
I used a small flat head screw driver and poked it threw the hole where the detent was located to realign it. Eventually got fed up with the POS and removed it all together.
A 12V auxillary supply socket now resides where the useless steering lock once was.
