Default Winter project

So I plan on painting my tins this winter and thought, maybe the engine too. It's just a plain casting evo. I want to bo black with exposed fins and the chrome too. How involved is it to paint the engine in chassis? Or, how hard or better, what's all involved in taking it out. Any gaskets, parts, **** like that. I can see it would need a primary gasket for sure. It would be nice to paint the frame to match, but the idea may be a little to over budget. Also, what kind of paint would be advised for this type of project? I don't have the option of teardown for powdercoat. SUCKS! But then I would put in a big bore kit, maybe a... nevermind. But any input would help. Oh yeah, I ride a 95 super glide nicknamed: "old's cool" instead of old school.

I just stripped a 06 back to bare frame it took 1 day to strip and 3 to put back together. I used exhaust gasket, engine to gear box gasket, primary gasket. Inner primary gasket, inner primary bolts with rubber seals on them, oil for primary, eng, trans, filter, locktite, grease. All up it's not a lot of money and gives you a chance to give everything a good clean etc. Use a manual and torque wrench. You would be able to get pretty good access to engine by taking carb, exhaust and horn off?

Looks like there will be a lot of room if I take the exhaust and **** off. Thanks for the help. Anyone else can chime in! Looks like a lot of taping and masking , but the look is awesome when black. I am going with a mettalic orange and black marbelized flames. I have some graphics I drew out for the tank and rear fender too. This could take a while till it get's there, but pic's will be posted!

Here's my inspiration. Not so mach flake, but a cool silver base coat and then the candy orange. Goin with marbelized black flames pinstriped wit the same silver as the base coat. The sides will have Harley Davidson in the silver also with a black outline. Drew up some cool one off lettering for it, so it should be cool. Unfortunately, since this post is soooo boring, It will be until spring.
