I just threw a tool bag on my front forks with the necessities and then put in some extra stuff for good measure. Trust me you want to have at least a few tools when you are 100 miles from home and need to tighten something down just to make it home!!!

sorry but, .
So on a related note, and just cuz I'm curious, what does every one normally put in a tool kit for longer (multiple day) rides? I heard compressor and plug kit, both of witch sound like a good idea if your going a ways out. Any thing else?

I put a wrench and extension with several socket sizes, pliars, allen wrenches, tire guage, small flash light, a tire patch kit and some zip ties. Believe it or not the zip ties come in handy. This is just for a small fork tool bag, I usually load a back pack on my sissy bar with a few more things for really long trips.

I make sure to have a quarter inch allen. If I'm at all nervous about the place the bike is parked, I loosen the handlebar bolts. Hard to push a bike with floppy bars. Harder to lift into a truck, too.

You don't have to live with it. Your local Harley shop sells the tool for adjusting your shocks for about $10.00. That is if they are spring shocks. If you have air shocks Harley has the little pump for $50.00

I bought a leather tool bag for the forks. By the time I filled it with all the tools I thought I might need, it seemed too heavy for the bag to hold when mounted on the fork. I put it in the saddlebags when I have them on and on the luggage rack when running around town. When traveling, I carry duct tape, several sizes of zip ties and a flashlight. I have spoked wheels, so don't carry a tire kit or compressor. I carry a can of fix-a-flat on trips. I you have a flat, dealerships won't fix a tire, they will only sell you a new one. So the fix-a-flat could be the only option to get you to a place where you can get help. Never used it, but would ride really slow after filling a flat that way.
