Both are carb bikes. You will loose wind protection, and storage. I can't advise you, man. Take the lady for a ride on the WG, and have her help with that decision.
That is a tough one there,
If you do alot of long distance riding the Electra-Glide adds that standard of fairing and storage Both classy rides with the WG ya just add a shield and tour bag. can you swing both?
From what you said in your PM, I'd go for it. I don't see the point of having a bagger if you're not going to do a lot of touring on it. And don't think you can't tour on a Wide Glide. While I haven't done any really long rides, I have done several multi-hundred mile days on mine. Went from NJ to OBX this past spring w/ a buddy. Had a great ride. Did a 525 'cruise' to go up to Mass. and back so another buddy could buy a bike. 150 - 250 mile rides on a Saturday are pretty common. The g/f and I did 225 miles just riding up to Bear Mtn. and back a couple of weeks ago. Get a quick-release windshield, a set of throw-over bags, and a T-Bag to go on the sissy bar, and you're all set for a nice road trip. I really do like the flexibility of mine. Great for just riding around, and I would have no problem taking it on a long trip.
