For the guys with 09 street bobs, youneeded to use 2 1/2" lock washers between the shocks and perches or the shocks will rub the perches.
Now I just need to do something with the front end, I have the progressive drop in but the front is rough. I'm thinking a fork oil change and maybe intimidators. Any suggestions?
Almost all the lowered shocks will jar your fillings loose. Since you sacrifice all the suspension travel for looks, the shocks dont have anywhere to go except be stiff as h3ll. Lowering blocks is an option to soften the ride, but keep in mind you're putting excessive stress on the blocks and the back of the trans every time you hit a big bump.
I opted for stock height 440's and couldnt be happier (I could, but thats another story). I ride too damn hard to worry about bottoming out with lowered shocks.
.....but keep in mind you're putting excessive stress on the blocks and the back of the trans every time you hit a big bump......
This is very true. I did exact opposite of the OP - I bought lowering blocks back when I first got my bike - wound up being eaten alive by a very gnarley pothole and bent the **** outta the lowering blocks, bent the shocks and ovalized the swingarm cup where it attaches to the tranny. Replaced swingarm and 'upgraded' to progressives and they rode like complete crap - went back to a stock set for a while and just recently went with a pair of V-Rod shocks that ride much better and look great (I would rock ohlins if i had the coin)
Alot of people complain about progressive rears (event he stock height units) but dont hear much complaints about their front springs actually - though I did just procure a set of the works fronts that I hope to get installed soon.
