I'm looking to get a Wideglide next spring. I'm not sure if I should try to get a 2007 or if possible save a few bucks on one that's a few years old. I saw a 2003 100th Anniversary for $14,500. It had less than 2K miles. Nothing was changed, except for the added saddle bags.
I'm just wondering what everyone's opinion is on trying to get something like this versus a new one. Does anyone know the years that changes were made? Like rake, fork size, etc? I know the '06 started with the 6-speed and internal wiring in the handlebars. Were the larger forks started in this year?
The 49mm fork tubes were introduced on the 06 model. The 06 bikes introduced most of the major changes that carried over to the 07 models, with the acception of the bigger engine and maybe some tweaks to the transmission. If you have the bucks then look at a 07, as stated elsewhere it will come with a 2 year warranty and the 96 cu.in engine is a plus.
Certainly you can find some good used deals out there. But it doesnât matter which way you go Harley Davidsonâs are costly to purchase and own. And like any other motorcycle, Quality accessories can cost a small fortune. But you do get to get to step into that rarefied section of life that only Harley Davidson ownerâs experience.
If you're going to spend the money for an '06, just go the extra mile and get an '07. For the few thousand more that you might pay, you'll kick yourself downstream for not doing it. But... there's nothing wrong with buying an older bike for a lot less money and then customizing it to be totally YOUR bike. I bought a 98 for $10k and I've got an additional $4K into it, and it is absolutely, unmistakably MY bike for less than the cost of entry with an 06.
I love the anniversery wide glides. What type of paint does it have? If it's the silver on black, I would have to go for that. I haven't entered the realm of wanting a efi yet though. But, if your choices are:
I have an 2000, bought it with 19,544. The only things I have had go wrong with it is....the battery died. I have had to put new tires on it and just mold into what I want. Go for the one that feels right, the one that hits you. I looked at many bikes, ones with less miles, similar mods but, they did not hit me. I started looking at the one I have in Aug. and kept shopping around until March and bought it then
And you still bought it with that funny yellow color???
