Default Chrome cleaning question

I have a quick question about a problem I am having with my Bob. Basically the chrome on the front end of the bike (triple trees especially) is starting to show signs of dulling and there are water spots that are impossible to get polished out. I know this is from leaving the bike parked outside while I am at the fire station and it getting rained on. While at home it is kept in a garage.

What in the world can I use that will bring back the shine of the chrome and get the water spots out? I have tried Mothers Chrome polish, and Turtle Wax Chrome polish but neither made a dent to the water spots and the shine was minimal.

If there is any miracle chrome cleaner/polish out there that is good at taking care of these problems PLEASE let me know.

I use mothers billit polish for that sort of thing. Not supposed to work on chrome, but it does.

The trees are not chrome, its polished aluminum. Use Mother's "Mag & Aluminum Polish."

It works great...

Mother's rules... With the aluminum when you first apply it, rub the poo out of it!! It will get a black look to it then let it stand till it hazes up then rub the poo out of it some more and your trees will look like mine!

Thanks guys, I had a feeling that something wasnt right there when the trees were dulling faster than everything else.. and impossible to get clean where as the handlebars, dust caps on the forks, etc. were so easy to. I guess being as that they are polished aluminum that would make a difference. Looks like I will be picking up some Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish.

Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish. Absolutely recommend this stuff. When cleaning polished aluminum you do through a bunch of black before you get a bunch of shiney as Naz_Man stated.

Yeah...I have the same problem...I also have the Mothers Aluminum polish for my car wheels...I'll give it a try. I never got too upset about it because I put two and two together. The fact that HD sells a chrome version of those triple trees was indication enough that the stockers might not look as good as they could

I just found out last night that a buddy of mine started working for a company that does chrome plating. I may just have to get a shop manual soon so I can start taking my bike apart!
