Default 103 engine build advice

Im in the process of getting a new wideglide and am having the 103 kit installed. Im planning on the 103 kit with 255 cams and having the heads done, compression releases, bassini 2into1 and a thundermax auto tune. I dont want a totally radical build but i also dont want to give up performance for safe components. Im wanting to get 105+ HP and 110+TQ. I dont think this is asking too much out of a 103 but is it asking too much out of the build im looking at getting done. Any advice and suggestions would be appretiated...

I would pass on the 255 bagger cams and go with a Wood TW5-6 or Cycle Rama 575 if you want bigger numbers.

Decide what you really want out of the build. How do you really ride? Where do you want the TQ? HP? Then do your research. Narrow your choices and then ask opinions.

I want a good strong engine that pulls hard and is fun to ride. I want something that is reliable and runs on pump gas. Im looking for advice from people that have done similar builds and how they like the results. Ive been searching the internet and asking questions but sometimes too much information confuses a bit. Im looking for some opinions on what other people have done. Thanks

Im getting ready to go 103 too, im going to reuse my HQ .575 cam, it pulls like gang buster at around 2200 rpms to close to 5k! going to set it up at 10.3 to 10.4 static 9.6 mech.

to anything less than 115 lbs of torque is a fail! shooting for 120 lbs!!!

A week from tomorrow my bike goes in for a 103 & headwork install. I went with the Woods TW-555 cam on the reccomendation of the machinist that did the heads and cylinders. I have since done some research and completely agree. It was one of the more expensive cams but the right one for me. And, BTW, I am looking for the same numbers. As mentioned above, I've heard a number of people disapointed with the 255's.

I had Andrews 54H cams in my 103 08 SG. I liked them enough that I am having them installed in my CVO Fat Bob as we speak. Nice and very quiet. These cams made 96HP and 120 TQ. A more aggressive exhaust may have gotten me to 100HP but I am, was, and intend to be tickled with the 54H cams. Plus I have a new CVO SG and guess which cams are going in it after a breakin.

Thanks for the info. The more i hear and read im thinking different cams but my problem is im having an hd dealer do the work. They are a pretty good shop and use alot of aftermarket parts but my dilema is the $2500 im getting back from hd for buying a 2010 bike. Can anybody suggest a cam that would be comparable to the ones already suggested. Also am i better off going with forged pistons, bumping my compression ratio up to 10.5-1, and spending money on valve springs push rods etc. Thanks again for the info
