Default 2006 Apes?

Anybody changed to larger apes on their Dyna (WG). Found some 16" on ebay pre wired for 96-06 but says not 06 Dyna? Anybody got the skinny on that. I want to put some taller bars on but having a hard time finding part numbers for +6 cables and brake line for 06.

The reason is that 06 mini apes on the Wide glides are thicker than previous years. Hence, the risers/clamp is setup to fit the thicker bars. If you're looking for aftermarket bars, I would assume you'd have to find bars specific to 06-later DWGs.

wait a min..

the wg bars are 1.25" correct? seems to me like any 1.25" apes would work with the same risers/clamps no?

maybe i don't understand the question..

Look in the HD catalog, got all mine at HD, went 8 over on the throttle and front brake, 10 over on the clutch...picked them up at the dealer, went over for the ablity to add a 3 inch riser if I want to.

That could be the case with the 06 and later models...I haven't looked at mine. I just know that HD marketed the new WGs with 1.25" apes as opposed to the previous 1.00". If this is the way they were designed, then I don't see why there would be a compatability issue between model years.

Ok just so I a not confusing anybody my factory mini apes on the 06 stay 1.25 all the way through excpt I suppose fpr the grip ends haven't had them off but would say it is a safe bet, the new 16" apes I ordered taper to 1"at the clamps and the bar ends, luckily I have another set of risers from putting apes on my old FXSTB so that saves me 100 bones but still got to get +8 cables all around(just so that I have a little wiggle room)
