I was heading to the gas station, knew I had enough fuel to get there and that was about it. I took off and just before I get on the highway for the short run for fuel I cross a RR track. I hit the onramp and grab some throttle and the back end starts dancin around. I knew what was up so I pulled over and called the stealer. Of course their trailer is being repaired so they cant come get it, they offer to call a tow truck but I declined. I figured I was about 3 miles from home I would just walk alongside and feather the clutch to get it home without ruining the tire.
I made it about 2 miles when she died, out of gas! I ended up pushing it almost a mile (you leave nothing unattended in that neighborhood) to get it home. Once home I take a look at the tire and there is a long cut in it so it isnt repairable anyway. I knew I should have just rode the damn thing, I wouldnt have run out of gas and had to push it.
After all that ordeal when a buddy asked if I was pissed I had to admit it didnt bother me much. I got to ride and it was a beautiful day. Just glad I noticed the tire before I got up to speed.
Got a flat about 2 hrs from home turned a nice saturday ride into a long sucky day. Had to call a friend to bring my trailer and truck to me to get home. And spoke rims suck only had a screw in mine could have plugged it if I didn't have tubes.
I think I ran over some debris at the RR crossing, I am gonna drive the cage up there today and take a look. I have to go over that crossing everyday so I would rather spend 10 minutes cleaning crap up than replace tires. I was dwelling a lot on what could have happened, but it didnt. Cant dwell on the what if's to much or I will never even get on the bike.
partly why I decided to get rid of my spoked rims. If I get a flat I can just plug it. And as for cuts. In my jeep when I'm rock crawling I have had cuts in the side wall and put multiple plugs in the tire to "plug" it enough to get me out then replaced the tire. I think I would rather plug it like that and baby it the closest place to replace the tire, then have to push it
Gotta hate the flat tire accel dance - glad you kept her under control. Sucky day, but couldve been worse...get some new tread on that scoot & ride on.
