Default Changing tires.

Does anyone do their own tire mounting and unmounting? If so, what tools and method do you use?

I have the Harbor freight machine, but I mainly use it to break beads and hold the wheels. I still mount and dismount with spoons

No mar wheel balancer, Spoons (wrapped in duct tape to prevent scratches), I just use a wedge shaped 2X4 to break the beed. Check youtube for vids on motorcycle tire change. Great vids to help you get started.

I went ***** out and bought a No mar tire changer machine...actually a buddy and I split the cost. With as many tires as we can do (our own and friends) it will pay for itself in the long run. It's a great machine and worth the investment to me.

I have many times but my local indy charges me $20.00 if I take the wheel to him so many times I just do that. Breaking the bead is the hardest part. Usually just run it by any tire shop and ask them to do it for me. I'll usually give the tire guy five bucks as a tip and they are more than happy. Once the bead is broken I lay the wheel on a heavy duty trash can and use spoons. Easy as pie.
