I am in the market for a new seat because my better 1/2 cannot stand (rather sit on) the stock seat on my 2007 FXDC. After looking, I am curious about the Mustang Regal. Does anyone have any pics of this on their bike along with any feedback?
My wife didn't like the stock FXDC seat either. Sorry. Can't help you with the Regal. But if your better 1/2 is anything like mine, you might as well go ahead and get the Wide Vintage now. =) I resisted and got the Vintage. Her thoughts?....It's 'alright'. Translation: She would have preferred the wide. If money's not an issue, I'd involve her and get her a seat that's going to make her happy. And then go buy yourself a solo that you like for 1 up riding. That's what I'm doing.
Can't speak for the Mustang either, but I put a Le Pera Maverick on mine and my wife and I both really like it. It is deep cut for a low profile ride for me and it is plenty wide and supportive enough for my wife to be comfortable on the back. In fact, I would say that the padding is actually a little better for the passenger than the rider.
Unless you only ride with the wife behind you, I'd seriously consider the Mustang wide solo and the optional wide passenger add-on seat. Mustang also makes the wide in a one piece unit for both, but it looks the same as the two separate seats.
Most two-up seats scrimp on the comfort of the passenger, but the Mustang wide gives her 12" of width and you about 16-1/2". They also look pretty nice.
That's what I have and the lady has never complained.
