Default Race tech front kit

I had a race tech front kit installed, 06 dyna bob, had a friend of a friend install it,
Problem is it rides super high in its travel, it tops out when im on the throttle, kinda rides like ****, I dont really want to take everything back off and send them out again..... Is it an easy fix to remove preload? ( i dont have a manual). Just lookin for some quick help.....

I'm not familiar with your kit, but most come with PVC spacer on top of the fork spring. Cut that down a bit. I'd do 1/4 in at a time till you get right "sag". Call Race Tech to find out what they recomend for your weight.

Did you get the springs and the gold valve ...? The gold valve can be adjusted two ways as I recall ... basically to control the rate of oil flow both ways ....

I believe for the 49mm forks RaceTech went to a progressive-wound spring ....

Another potential problem you could be having is the holes in the damper rods were not drilled out to spec ... I think it calls for 6 ea 5/16" perforations in the base of the damper rods ... else, it takes the gold valves out of the equation because the oil flow is restricted by the rods and not the gold valve ....

I forget the recommendation about oil weight ... but, off the top of my head, I think it was to run thinner oil ... a lot of advice on here is to get thicker oil ... but, with the springs and gold valve doing their job, you don't need to ....

I could dig up my 'gouge' sheet on the gold valve if you need me to ....

Good luck and let us know what you find out ....

did the RT stuff on my front end too. drilled the tubes and running 15wt Bel-Ray and it's dreamy. buuut it did sit kinda high for the first few days which I deemed normal. Then after about 100mi it settled down to where it is now which is pretty much same as stock and still rides perfectly. Like others said drain some fluid and CAREFULLY REMOVE THE CAP then check the preload spacer and adjust. That cap is under pressure and the threads are a b1tch and will crossthread in a hurry if you aren't careful installing them.

I tore it apart last night.... Its really simple.. The deal was that the spacers was way longer than what RT recomended... They recomend approx 25mm. 1"... The optional settings say up to 1-3/4"... Mine was at 2-7/16".... I trimmed them down 1".. The bike still sits taller that stock but it is a night&day difference.... It now has some sag and rides like a dream.....
The right fork cap went right back together withen 15 min.... That included trimming the spacer... The left took conciderably longer.. Had a hell of a time getting the cap back on. Got after about forty five minutes....
All in all i wish i would have done the initial install myself....

Also i checked for the additional holes in the damper rods and the settings on the gold valve.... All was done right... Dude that set em up just ran too much preload... Like he does for the homies that ride wheelies....
