hey , i ride a '99 fxdx
it runs great but sometimes he just dies no lights or nothing then mostly after 2 seconds or so the lights go back on and starts no problem until the next time it dies sometimes after 5 yard sometimes after 25 miles now a have a error code cal15 . does anyone nows the code ore maybe whats wrong .
Don't know what the code is but, it's possible your main circuit breaker is tripping due to age. Not that expensive, it's behind the fuse panel behind the electrical cover on the left side of the bike.
Also double check both ends of your battery cables. Don't just check the bolts, tug on the wires. They could be corroded under the insulation and just barely making contact.
last week my bike's ignition lights turn t on and off every 2 seconds
found that the main circuit breaker turn t hot whit out motor running and was switching on and off
put a new one in bike starts right up but after about 50 miles dies again, i stop start again and rode home , the breaker is 30 amps .
any thoughts anyone ??
Don't know for sure, but my 2006 Heritage Softail had a problem with the "System Relay" which supplies power to the fuel pump. A $5.00 part and mine was a small grey colored box on the fuse block. If fuel injected, I would replace this and see if it fixes your problem.
It's only $5.00. I am going to start carrying a spare for me or the next guy I see with this problem.
hey flip, i had a '03 fxdx that did the same kind of thing. i can't remember the code it was throwing, but the behavior was definitely the same. ended up being a corroded battery cable. easy fix.
