I just switched from a nightster to a '11 DWG. Really want to love the bike and basically do but issues right off the showroom floor can sour you a little.
I had the dealer install a detachable backrest with rack and luggage. Seemed fine for 20 miles home. Took the luggage off, put the honey on and away we went. After a couple miles of her helmet whacking mine at every decel, she finally told me she couldn't be against the backrest, it vibrated so bad it almost hurt.
I thought maybe she was exaggerating until I googled it and found similar complaints but no solutions. It is so loud with the rack on that I got heckled in traffic on the way back to the dealer. They don't seem to care very much but they are ordering new docking hardware. I don't see that being the answer.
Now, as I ride solo (not an entirely horrible thing) I have to keep messing with the gas cap to keep that vibe noise from making me crazy while I search for an RPM where I can see anything in my mirrors.
Am I the only one? Friday bike?
Any help would be appreciated greatly.
I have the OEM sissy bar (if you can call it that) with the detachable pad on it and my wife hasn't complained about it. Also, mine is pretty smooth at speed, no excessive vibrations. Maybe something is loose?
Anthing shaking that bad should be checked right away. Dynas shake at idle pretty good but around 2500 it should be a pleasant experience. Do you feel it that badly in your pegs and grips?
Make the dealer drive it and if he agrees it's unusual, have him check your crank run out while it's still under warranty.

Bet he'll get the "it's a Harley, they do that" routine! I can't imagine it should vibrate any worse than a Sporty but I have no real-world experience with a Sporty.
Thanks to all.
Sporty would put your spleen in your throat if you weren't careful about bumps but it didn't vibrate like this DWG.
I did get the "it's a Harley" thing, that was before the mechanic rode it around the lot. Then it became a mounting hardware thing.
I see the dealer, again, tomorrow. Now I have a few more "talking points"
