Default Bars none

OK People, I just bought a 1998 Dyna and those buckhorn POS bars on there.
I need to go wider and higher.
My Q is, How high and wide can i go WITHOUT replacing any cables and such?
I am a COB so any and all recommendations are welcome.
Any suggestion?
Thanks,
Dan

COB?
Chief of the boat or cheap ol' bastard?

Allkidding aside the problem I have with the buckhorns is the way they and your wrists. The limitation I encountered when adding risers and sportster bars was the wiring for my speedo and warning lights. I had to find the wiring harness and loosen it to get more slack.

I had the same terrible bars on my FXDX when I got it. Completely ruined the look and handling of the bike. Have street slammers on it now, handle great but need something higher, will go with 8" straight rise tbars

I would go short risers with some apes or some tall T-bars and use an accutronix gauge mount adapter to mount your gauges.

10 inch bars should be no trouble at all. I installed 10's and didn't change a single thing. You can get 12's as long as they are not super wide. You can keep the stock stuff and go 12 IF your willing to reroute the cables and wires and re-feed them in such a way you use all the slack. That might include jacking up the bike and popping the top tree off to release the said cables and wires.

Eventually I had to get cables and hoses, but I wanted to go even higher than just a set of 12's.
(Hell, one guy claimed he got 14's on but the stuff would just be way too stretched and bent for my taste)

.
