My '11 fxdc must run 100 degrees hotter than my carbed '99 did. Last week I dropped the wife at the mall to return something and I sat on the bike waiting for her. It wasn't even hot out that day maybe around 65 or so. As I was sitting there I was thinking this thing runs hotter than the hinges of hell. Like sitting on a wood stove almost. lol Anyway I looked up some info on those EXIEDS you all talk about and noticed they make a couple different models some with adjustable AFR and so on. My bike runs good as is, I might add a highflow filter eventually but I'm more interested in cooling it down some. So has anybody bought these and what did you think of the results.

First off, did you leave your engine running while the wife did the return? Air cooled bikes don't like to sit still while running, not enough air flow to keep them cool. Shut the bike off.
Put on an oil cooler to help cool the engine, but these are worthless while stopped unless you also run a fan or two behind them. I have both, a thermostat to open the cooler and a manual switch for the fans.
I'll let others talk about their EXIEDs as I have no experience with them, but being a HD part, they still have to meet EPA standards and might not be as effective as aftermarket tuners. It takes richer settings to run cooler, but maybe they will help. Back in the days of carbs, the bikes ran cooler as they weren't running nearly as lean.
My tuner can be enrichened throughout its RPM range, but the engine will still get hot when sitting in traffic. I just flip on the fan.
If it was my bike I would save the money on the xIEDs and use it towards a tuner. If you are going to add an air cleaner and then possibly some other mods you will end up needing one anyway. The xIED only works in closed loop mode which is only when you are pretty much cruising at part throttle. They can't compensate for other add ons you may do as you mod your bike. Yes the twin cam engine does run hotter than an evo but that's the way it was designed. Look at the size of the cooling fins, they are made larger to get more heat out of the engine. That with the fact that it's fuel injected and has a more precise mix through the entire operating range will drive temps up. You still don't see them overheated on the side of the road. If you are just looking to run cooler by adding fuel to the mix with a factory set up bike it can get pretty pricey if you ride a lot. Your avg mpg will certainly drop.
The 2010 and 2011 models have convertors in the head pipes, they get crazy hott. About all you can do is go to a aftermarket full replacement pipe or figure out a way to cut out the convertors out of the head pipes.
+1 on the cat converters in the headpipes. Mine do get crazy hot too. Burn my leg about 3 times a week. Often when the bike has been sitting for awhile and then when I fire it up again youch.. man those headpipes get howlin hot. Im getting a completely new exhaust in the next two weeks. No more cat converters for me. Will be redoing to EFI mix too .
Still havent figured out how to post pic of my bike so that it will appear when I post but just FYI I have a 2011 Dyna street bob. Runs great . fast bike but it does get hot . A lot.
As far as sitting at a traffic light or stop and go traffic..Our crotch coolers work very well and are very easy to install.. WE have a lot of very satisfied customers on this forum..Give us a look.
