As far as I know both models up to '05 have 39mm forks whereas FXDWG has 41 mm forks.
In 2006 MoCo changed to 49 mm fork for all Dyna models.

You have 3 spacings, narrow glide, mid glide and wide glide. Sporties are narrow glide, and off the top of my head not sure if the 05 FXD was narrow or mid, but thinking it is a mid glide.

Mid glide started in '06 using 49mm forks.

Wide-glide is ~ 250mm wide using 41mm forks, Narrow-glide is ~ 175mm wide using 39mm forks, Mid-glide is ~ 216mm wide using 49mm forks, (all center to center)
