Default RE: GAS ?

Running 93 octane as recommended just makes sense.Higher octane fuel doesn't make your bike run better,it just reduces the chance of of detonation which can burn a puston in just a few miles if you lug the engine.

Having said that. If you get off for some gas in a little podunk town where it's not likely that they sell much 93 octane, then get the lower grade. I went thru two tanks of misery on the way to Daytona with a bad tank of gas. Didn't think I'd ever burn that **** up.

For the little difference in price I can't imagine why we're even having this discussion.

Good Luck

Tom

I always run 91 octane, my bike was dynoed and SERT using Shell 91, so i know it's tuned for best performance on 91. I use Shell 95% of the time and if i cant find one for some reason, i use Chevron. I only costs $10 to fill up my bike from 1/4 tank, and i can get 100+ miles out of that.
I've always run 87 in all my trucks i've had with no problems, but always use name brand. I always used the premuim in the harley since day one and also in my dirt bike.

Here at our local Citgo, They offer 87, 88, 89, 91, 93. I wonder if anyone even uses 88 or 89?

For how much gas a bike uses, not only do I use only 93 or 94 octane, I only use top tier gasoline. Actually that's what I use in all my vehicles except for my work truck. Shell or Texaco is available here. There is a big difference. Here is a list of the current retailers.

QuikTrip
Chevron
Conoco
Phillips
76
Shell
Entec Stations
MFA Oil Company
Kwik Trip/Kwik Star
The Somerset Refinery, Inc.
Chevron-Canada
Aloha Petroleum
Tri-Par Oil Company
Shell-Canada
Texaco
Petro-Canada
