Default 4 over tubes on Superglide?

Any one done this? Just asking out of pure curiosity. I remember years ago the first thing many guys did with Super-glide Shovels was slap on 4 or 6 over tubes and take a torch to the kickstand and bend it. Just wondering if anyone on this forum ever added longer fork tubes to a newer Super-glide? Maybe the old days really are gone.

Yes, that is exactly what I was talking about. Seems you just don't see that any more. I was just wondering why. I always liked that style but people criticize my 3 over Springer all the time for "wrecking the handling" of a Dyna. Hey, what can I say.

Hey bikerlaw that springer front end is absolutely sweet. Some folks have no taste or no understanding of history and class. My mechanic puts longer fork tubes in bikes all the time. I think he also uses different trees when he does it. His bike is the best handling , fastest softail I have ever ridden beside (mostly in back of). If I dont do a springer front on mine I will most likely let him do the magic he does and enjoy the heck out of it when he is done. So yes at least here in montana lots of front end mods .

I have seen this done on dynas , softails and sportsters to great effect. I dont think its something you would do to say a road king.

Missedem: Thats great to hear. I always thought it was a cool look but I don't see it too often any more. I'm from northern Illinois originally. There was this guy called PUD back in the 80's. He had a black Superglide with extended forks, chrome risers and drag bars. To this day I still think that was one of the coolest Harley's I ever saw. If I ever build another Superglide, I will strongly consider going that direction. If for no other reason than not many people do it any more.

Most of those that criticize are those that only know what they read or have been told and have never actually tried it. Too many arm chairs out there that have heard any change to the rake and trail will be disastrous and because they have never been there, know no different.

I have 2" over on my WG, but that was mostly due to adding 2 degrees of rake.
I ran 2 over on my low rider years ago, always liked the look.

Search ebay
Also a word to the wise, the Pro1 tubes you see for 100 more than some of the others, are the identical made in Taiwan tubes.
