Noticed a small spot of gas on the floor under my '06 Low Rider. About the size of a quarter.
It's on the left side, and as I looked up, the area under the gas tank where the wires come out was a little wet with gas. Cleaned it up and looked fine.
Did you push the gas line disconnect in to make sure it was fully seated? Both ends have fittings, but the one on the throttle body side is a lot harder to get off.
Were you working under the tank at all? I broke the fitting when I lifted on the tank a little...didn't really take much either!
First off I know this sounds like a dumbquestion but are you sure sure its gas. Don't get upset for me asking but heres why. Where the wires come out f the tank is nothing but a tube that runs straight through the tank it never comes in contact with feul every. So unless you somehoe got gas under you gas guage then you have a leak somewhere in the weld, and I would say your gonna need a new tank. I'm sure someone could weld it. But F**k that I've seen what happens when ppl try that and its not usually good. I would definitely take it to the dealer.
It happened to me. I would be willing to bet that it is the weld under the speedo on top of the tank. The weld job there is sloppy and the seal wasn't enough to keep the gas from coming out when full ?
Was your tank full ? Being its on the left side, that is the way it would flow...however Harley wouldn't replace the tank since it was painted.
Good luck
PM me is you have any further questions

I brought it to the dealer in town - I'm not too crazy about the Service Writer there and wanted some info before I called them.
Called dealer Saturday am (Service Writer was off) and Service Manger told me to bring it right in. Gave it a pretty thorough check and said something was definitely wrong with gas tank. If it's a defective tank they'll order a new one.
Felt better dealing with the service guy than the Service Writer.
I know that mine wasn't the first and with the looks of that poor weld job on my tank, it will not be the last..$100 for a good welder and then seal the tank and it's all good now.
Glad to hear that you will be getting a new one

It's definitely gas, and tank was only 3/4 full.
Thanks for your info.
