I need to replace the stock seat on my 03FXD. This seat is really bad after 50 miles.

I have narrowed it down to two seats:

1. Mustang Wide Vintage
2. Saddlemen Explorer Special Gel filled

any recommendations?

 

Not having used either, I can't offer a recommendation between those choices, however I do have a Corbin seat and it makes a significant difference in riding comfort. I couldn't last more than 45 minutes on my stock seat. After getting the Corbin, I've put 30k or so miles on the Softail including a 6,800 mile 2 week ride in 03 and a 4,000 mile 3 week ride back in August. I expect it to still be comfortable on the trip to Alaska this July.

Well, it's still in the planning stages. My wife's intending on taking a cruise ship up. We'll ride around when I get there and then she'll fly home. Since there's no show stopper for me, I'll be going, just not sure on the exact dates. I'm shooting for the end of July. You're welcome to come along if you can keep up [:-]

A trip to Alaska sounds great. I was talking about that with some friends of mine. I assume you are going to ride up, so how many days are you allowing for the ride?

I have about 20,000 miles on a Mustang seat and find it very comfortable...the "500 mile per day" comfortable. No problems with workmanship or cracking...great seat. carl
