Default cable question

So I finally got my apes in, and I was wondering about the cables. Looks like I need +6" for clutch and throttle/idle, but what about the brake? Any tips would be appreciated, especially if I got my cable lengths correct. Also, what length extension kit do I need for the wiring? Just asking for advice from those of you that have done this before. Thanks!

I'll just throw this in here, I just added a +4" front brake line and HD was WAY backordered, so I got mine from Magnum.

Great customer service, they made my cable the next day and I had it in 4 business days.

I am going to order from magnum for sure, they look the best and have great reviews. I am just making sure that the +6 cables are correct. You used a +4" brake line on a 16" ape install?

Oh no, I used a +4" front brake line for a 1.5" riser insert.

With the brake line, you can afford to be a few inches longer, you will just have a bit more slack in the loop that sticks out on either side of the bike.

Also, Magnum has a $10 resize fee....if you order a length and find you want it trimmed shorter, for $10 they will size it down by any length that you specify.

Oh okay. I measured and I think I need about a +10 brake line for my bike.

The best way to measure is to take some extension cord...put one plug end right on the caliper, run it along your current brake line, zip tie-ing it as you go.

Get the other end to where your master cylinder would be with your new bars, add an inch or two for a buffer, and that is your measurement.

That's pretty much what I did. What size and degree ends do I need on the master cylinder and front brake caliper? There are two sizes on the magnum website, 9/16" and 3/8". I'm not sure that I need for the ends of this thing. Thank you for the help so far!

Now, that size issue I don't know. I did the thing on their site where you input what bike you have and they tell you what fits your bike.

My cable had a 60 degree bend on both ends. The stock cable was straight on the bar end and 60 degree on the caliper end.

However, this worked out nicely because the 60 degree bend is perfect if you want to run the cable down the bar and to the base of the top triple (which almost everyone does).

Your bike may be different, but here is exactly what I ordered for my Iron 883:

1 x 46" Chromite II DOT Custom Brake (46646) = $67.95
Color Black Pearl

Here is a thread with pictures for what I did:

Got it. The cable locator by bike is the hot ticket. Now my old lady says I have to wait a couple weeks to buy the cables and stuff.....

Your looking arOund 74" for clutch and adding about six to your brake line... Find a hose and rubber place near you or best bet ask your local mom n pop store , not hd, where they take their brake lines to be extended.. Correct on +6 idle and throttle but make sure you don't bust up the zip ties that hold the cables agains the back bone otherwise that's an extra $8 you get to spend!
