Headlight and Windshield Issue Solved
I have been using a Memphis Fats shield on my FXD during the fall and winter for the last 18 months. Several threads on this forum mentioned a similar problem with the light from the headlight hitting the back of the windshield and "lighting it up". I did a temporary fix by painting the area around the framing flat black on the inside of the shield. It helped but I still wasn't happy because all of my light was not hitting the road in front of me. I
needed it for my, after sunset, before sunrise commute during the winter.
I found a headlight block for an FXDWG online. After some emails to check dimensions, I cut out cardboard templates to see if a different base would make a difference.
Here are my results.
I like the new look and cant' wait for my ride to work in about an hour, in the dark. I live in western Texas and with deer, javelina, skunks, fox, coyotes, stray dogs, and every other kind of road debris, I wanted all the light I could get.
Ride safe!

Good idea moving the headlight forward so it is now in front of the windshield. How does it look with the windshield off? I get a similar glare from mine as well, almost like a reflection and this sounds like a nice simple fix.
The pup does like it, and so do i. I have a Memphis Demon spotshield that i use in the warmer months. I need to test fit it next.
With the shield off it does not look bad. I will snap a shot this weekend weather permitting.

To get my headlight on high beam not to shine on the windshield I had to get the trim ring and had to extend the light out by almost an inch.
I built a bracket out of alluminum block. Here is a photo of the original on the left and the one I made on the right. That did the trick and it looks fine.
Now I need to relocate my front signals to remove the glare I see at night from those amber lights shining up on the chrome and bouncing on the windshield. Got the kit, just need to do the work.
