just wondering what some options are as far as replacement performance engines go for a 2006 dyna. S&S cycle says they don't make motors for the 2006 year dyna.
i understand 06 dynas had some torubled motors, but is there something else going on that is the reason for a complete aftermarket engine not to be installable?
i've searched the internet and these forums without any real luck.
do people just work on the motor already on there?
Any motor that fits an '07 and newer will fit in an '06. If a builder tells you otherwise then maybe you need to find another builder. As far as the '06 motor it is very similar to the 96ci motor just a shorter stroke. I am not familiar with any problems with it. The '06 bike is geared a little lower than the 96ci bikes so a big bore kit and some cams make a great improvement. Actually the right cams by only with intake and exhaust mods will be enough for most. My personal choice is the Andrews 37 cams. They love to rev and with the '06 gearing they get into the power curve real early.
nothing wrong with my motor now, just planning for some performance when she starts feeling tired. 23k on it now, not sure if it's worth dumping money into this motor or just getting a fresh one. thanks for all the suggestions though!
